PHO720: Informing Contexts WIPP

The intent of my photographic project is to explore the subject of identity in relation to fashion and more specifically; footwear. My practice in this regard is focused in telling the story of people's connections to their shoes, namely why their most used or ‘go-to’ pair has become favoured. My aim is to portray and explore the sentimentality behind their shoes, the loyalty they have to specific brands or styles and what they feel it says about their identity.
The objective for my project is to encourage the audience to consider and question how their fashion choices are informed. Do they choose the clothing they wear purely for aesthetic or comfort reasons? Or have they been somewhat ‘programmed’ by the media that they consume and relate to?
